Dato: February 2018
Tid: 3-5 hours
Kurs/Prosjekt: IMT1006 - Physical and Tactile Prototyping, NTNU
Skapere: Christopher M. M. Cox
Materialer: Textile, LED, wool, felting, paper cup, nine-volt battery, electrical duck tape and electrical wire
Teknologi: LED, nine-volt battery and soldering
Beskrivelse: The main goal for this workshop project is to show different kinds of textile materials or other types of materials as a shell to glow by using LED lights and buttons. This lamp which is shaped as an alien or a monster is ment to be enjoyed as a table decoration for kids and other people.
Målgruppe: MakerSpace, workshop, kids
Interaksjonen: This projected ended up not having any interaction but the interaction would be a button that will turn on and off the lamplight.
Metodeverk: #Prototyping
Step-123:
First you start by soldering LED lights together into a parallel connected with a resistor on the middel LED light and followed by electrical wires at the end of the middel LED light and resistor. After you have done this remember to duck tape the soldering part with electrical duck tape.
After you have soldered your LED lights into a parallel connected it is time to start felting together wool and some polyester. Start by felting the body of the monster and for this projected it was used a turquoise colored wool but you can use whatever colored wool you want. After this you can either start by felting the eyes or the mouth with some teeth or the hair. After you have done this you put the felted polyester inside the body of the monster and this is for to give better light when the LED lights are on. The monster should look something like this:
but you can create it however you want it to be looking alike.
When you are done with felting the monster together then it is time for making the lamp. Start by finding a paper cup and turn it upside down. So that the bottom is showing up and then make a hole in the bottom. Pull your parallel connected LED lights through the hole and duck tape it on the cup. For this project it was used 3 LED lights as a parallel connection. Follow this up with duck taping the wires also on the inside of the cup so that the wires also are stuck on to the cup. This is for making the wires not wiggle to much all over the place. If you want to decorate the paper cup you can do that as you please or else place the monster on top of the LED lights and the cup itself and if you want you can duck tape the monster stuck to the cup so that it wont fall off. Congratulation your now done and may enjoy your new lamp.
